First Five Years
At the Redhill College, we believe that staff new to the profession must receive the best possible support and training. As a result, we have created our First Five Years.
In conjunction with access to the Early Career Framework via the Redhill Teaching Hub, this offers training on all aspects of being a teacher. This begins with Initial Teacher Training and goes through to the fourth year of a teaching career and beyond.
First year - ITT
The Initial Teacher Training Programme has been designed for university-led secondary trainees while they are on placement in a Redhill College School.
All sessions will be held at The Redhill Academy except for one TeachMeet event per term that will be held at various schools across the Redhill Academy Trust.
Second year - ECT1
The ECT Year 1 programme is provided by your chosed Teaching School Hub. Follow the link for more information and to book for the Redhill Teaching Hub.
Third year - NQT+1
Teachers who completed their NQT year in July 2021, are falling between the NQT and ECF approaches.
At the Redhill College for Leadership and Development we are determined to provide high quality CPD for them.
These teachers are entitled to 5% additional protected time. We have decided to group this time together at the end of each half term so NQT+1s can engage with in depth CPD together.
Fourth year - Classroom teachers
These sessions aim to progress a teachers' skills and understanding in all aspects of their practice. This ranges from effective day-to-day teaching, longer term planning but also considers what career routes are available as next steps.
The brand-new content for this programme has been designed to deepen understanding and expand upon topics from the NQT, and NQT +1 (or the previous RTSA DCP/BaOT) programmes.
Fifth year - Teacher Research Groups
For more experienced staff who have been teaching for 4 years or more; the Redhill College aims to broaden your CPD experience and offer an ever-changing menu of teacher research groups (TRGs) to select from.
This offer will change and grow as time goes on, so there is always something different to challenge you in your professional development.
