‘Moving on Day’ prepares students to thrive in life after Sixth Form

Year 13 students from Redhill Academy Trust’s seven Sixth Form centres gathered at Nottingham Trent University for the Trust’s annual Moving On Day.

A long-standing key event in the Trust's Sixth Form calender, the day aims to prepare students for life after school through a timetable of expert-led workshops.

Andy Edwards, Trust Director of Post-16, said: "This unique experience offers students a taste of university life while helping them explore the balance between the freedoms and responsibilities that come with adulthood. Through a diverse choice of sessions, we aim to equip our young people with the knowledge and confidence they need to make informed choices about their future."

Choosing from a range of topics, Sixth Formers engaged with valuable sessions delivered by specialists in their field including Notts Police, Leducate, Equifax and Dr Rebecca Chellaswamy.

Sessions included:

  • Personal safety
  • Student finance
  • Lifetime finances
  • Driving and passenger safety
  • Degree apprenticeships
  • Personal health (GP talk)
  • Thriving at university
  • Revision tips & wellbeing
  • Criminal rights and responsibilities
  • Standing out to employers & building a LinkedIn profile

Thank you to all the expert providers for facilitating informative and engaging sessions for our students.

Moving On Day is a key part of our mission: to ensure every student leaves us prepared, empowered, and ready to thrive in the next chapter of their lives - whether that’s university, employment, or other exciting opportunities.
