Golden achievement: students honoured for DofE success

Five former Year 13 students recently celebrated completing their Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award.
Their achievements were recognised during a garden party at Buckingham Palace attended by HRH Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh, who stopped to congratulate and talk to our students about their experiences.
The prestigious Gold Award is the highest tier of the youth awards programme and marks the culmination of months of hard work, resilience and dedication, including expeditions, volunteering, skills development and a residential.
Congratulations to Remy (Hall Park Academy), Helen (The Redhill Academy), Jamie, Henry, Liv and Joe (South Nottinghamshire Academy).
Elissa Hawksworth, DofE Lead for South Nottinghamshire Academy and Redhill Academy Trust, said: "It was a very special day to celebrate the dedication and success of our Gold students who have completed all three awards. Seeing them develop into independent, resilient, and adventurous adults is what any teacher would wish for.”
The DofE programme is open to all our students, with financial support available to ensure it
is accessible for everyone. This is an important part of our commitment to inclusivity and widening experiences.
Richard Pierpoint, Redhill Trust Regional Director, said: "The DofE programme is an integral part of our award winning Trust enrichment offer. The uptake of students across our schools is a testament to the commitment of staff, students and parents to this prestigious national award.
We would like to congratulate all recipients who attended what was a memorable and very special achievement."
