Recognition and reward for outstanding Trust staff at dazzling Employee Awards

Colleagues from across Redhill Academy Trust gathered in style at East Midlands Conference Centre for a glittering evening of recognition, connection and celebration at the Trust’s Our Trust, Our People: Employee Awards.

Now in its second year, the event showcased excellence across our Trust, honouring the extraordinary work and contributions of our committed staff who support our students every day. A shortlist of 44 was selected from over 400 nominations received from colleagues across the Trust, reflecting the high calibre of our staff. Winners were then decided by a panel of judges.

Opening the proceedings, Trust CEO Andrew Burns said:Tonight’s event showcases the effort, dedication, innovation and accomplishment of our outstanding staff and governors."

“All of the nominees here tonight should feel extremely proud that they have been recognised by their colleagues for their exceptional achievements.”

Inspirational stories of true professionalism, teamwork and dedication to education shone a spotlight on the remarkable efforts and impact of our 44 nominees across the 12 award categories, from teachers, apprentices and governors to operational and pastoral staff.

One by one, award winners were welcomed to the stage by the evening’s compere, Adam Douglas, Redhill Trust's Sports Development Officer. They each received sparkling glass trophies, presented by corporate sponsors alongside Trust Director of Operations Richard Merryweather, Trust Primary Director Julie Wardle and Redhill Teaching Hub Director Sally Barfoot.

The ceremony was brought to a close with a surprise award. The 'Special Recognition Award' is an honour reserved for those whose impact goes far beyond expectations. Trust CEO Andrew Burns and Regional Director Rich Pierpoint took to the stage to speak about recipient, Stephen Mathers.

Mr Pierpoint said: "Steve has been Chair of Governors at The Carlton Academy since the school joined Redhill Academy Trust in 2011. He has been an incredible chair with a commitment to his community and the quality of education that goes way above and beyond."

"Having worked in the police for many years and been a foster carer for many, many young people – including some that have come through The Carlton Academy – Steve truly is a hero."

"He has been pivotal in guiding Carlton from very difficult times to now – the first choice school for local parents. We are incredibly grateful for his commitment, kindness and support."
