The RTSA has offered Initial Teacher Training through the School Direct scheme since 2012. School Direct is school-centred meaning that trainees spend a whole academic year training alongside experienced practitioners, in addition to benefitting from support from University tutors, one day per week. On successful completion of the course, trainees gain a PGCE plus QTS. The beauty of this route into teaching is that often trainees gain employment in the school in which they trained or gain employment within the Teaching School Alliance. The RTSA offer a unique package of training and support which previous trainees have rated as “second to none.”
