Remembrance at Carlton Juniors

Pupils at The Carlton Junior Academy marked Remembrance Day with a series of creative activities, a competition and wreath-laying at Carlton Cemetery.

Children wrote their first names on poppies along with the name of a fallen soldier from the Carlton War Memorial. The poppy was placed on the memorial in Carlton Cemetery by two of the academy's governors.

A creative competition was also held across the school, challenging pupils to either:

- design a new poppy

- create a remembrance picture

- write a poem

One child in each year group won a star prize and received a certificate, sticker and goody bag for their efforts. The winners were: Tia (Year 3), Lily-Grace (Year 4), Bobby (Year 5) and Chloe (Year 6).

Well done to everyone at Carlton Junior Academy for marking Remembrance Day with such thoughtfulness and creativity.
